TOWSON, Md. The Saint Joseph’s Women’s tennis team took on Morgan State on Friday afternoon as the Hawks kicked off play at the Towson Classic.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In the modified format, the Hawks played two doubles matches and three singles matches against the Bears.

Morgan State claimed both doubles matches; in the second flight, Ireland Amato and Sophia Amato forced a tiebreaker before ultimately falling.

In singles play, Anna Kirk forced a tiebreaker of her own, but dropped a 10-5 result in the third flight breaker.

HAWK TALK

“We were a little rusty but still had solid performances from Stow, Anna, and the Amato doubles team,” head Coach By Ian Crookenden said. “We are definitely missing the match play we normally would have had from the SJU invitational, but we will grow through the next four matches.”
