Blue Devils Advance at ITA Fall Regionals

WINSTON-SALEM, NC The Duke Women’s tennis team continued to shine at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Fall Regionals on Saturday as the Blue Devils sent three singles players into the semifinals and two doubles teams into the Finals set to take place on Sunday.

In singles play, Chloe Beck, Cameron Morra and Emma Jackson all won two matches on Saturday to move on to the semifinals of their brackets.

Beck registered a 6-1, 6-2 win over Misa Malkin of South Carolina and then collected a 7-6, 6-2 Victory over Margaux Maquet of Charlotte to move on. Jackson knocked off Arina Babkova of UNC Greensboro (6-1, 6-1) and then defeated Ellie Schulson of Furman, 6-2, 6-2. Morra then totaled a 6-1, 6-2 win over Clemson’s Samantha Buyckx and then registered a 7-5, 6-0 win over Nevena Carton of Wake Forest.

Both Brianna Shvets and Ellie Coleman won their round of 16 matches, before dropping their next contest in the quarterfinals.

Duke’s doubles duo of Karolina Berankova and Coleman collected a 6-3, 6-3 win over Wooten/Carton of Wake Forest to move on to the Finals of the A1 bracket. Morra and Beck notched a 1-6, 7-5, 11-9 win over Abrams/Rencheli of NC State to advance as well.
