Mens Tennis Closes Out Play at ITA Ohio Valley Regional

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Ball State men’s tennis team closed out its four-day weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Ohio Valley Regional Sunday afternoon at host Louisville on a high note as a junior That is, the Lord walked away with a semifinal win in consolation singles.

Herran went 5-1 on the weekend with five victories in consolation play and one loss in the main draw. Today Herran took down the Memphis Tigers’ Harry Rock in a two-set tiebreaker. Herran dropped the first frame of action to Rock by a score of 4-6 but then redeemed himself in the second frame 6-3 before taking the tiebreaker 11-9.

Nathaniel Webster was also set to play in the semifinals of the consolation bracket, but his opponent Louisville’s Kerim Hyatt withdrew from the match due to an injury. Herran and Webster decided not to play each other in the championship.

Overall, it was a successful weekend for the Cardinals as they faced some of the nation’s best around the Ohio Valley region. Ball State posted a 13-5 singles mark and went 0-2 in doubles play.

The Ball State men’s tennis team will take a short break from fall action and will return to the court for the weekend of Nov. 4-Nov. 6 at the MAC Indoor Championship in Kalamazoo, Mich.
