Teenage girls death, not suicide but murder; cops nab her father

The death of a teenage girl in Kalamna area on November 6, suspected to be a suicide case, has now turned out to be a case of a Murder during police investigation. The police have Arrested the father of the deceased girl on Murder charges who staged the Murder as suicide reportedly inspired by a television show, the police said. The Accused was identified as Guddu Chhotelal Rajak (40), a Resident of Kalamna village. According to the police, Guddu, a labourer, was living with his two daughters — Mahi (16) and Ziya (12). After the death of his wife, who had committed suicide in 2016, he tied the knot with a woman a few years back. His second wife deserted him. Mahi Rajak (16) was found hanging from a ceiling raft. Staff of Kalamna police rushed to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. The police had recovered five suicide notes from the spot in which Mahi had named her stepmother, uncle, aunt and grandparents for forcing her for marriage, and even charged them with molestation.

A case under Section 306 of Indian Penal Code and Sub-sections of POCSO Act was registered against the relatives and were Arrested by the police. The police were suspicious about the role of Guddu. They seized his mobile phone and sent it to Cyber ​​Experts for analysis. A picture was found in the mobile phone in which Mahi was seen alive with the noose around her neck. The cops got the idea of ​​what exactly happened with Mahi and took the Guddu into custody. They confessed to having committed the murder. A police official said that Guddu hatched the conspiracy after seeing a crime-based daily soap ‘CID’ to teach a lesson to his relatives including his second wife. He told his daughters that he would teach lessons to the relatives for which he asked Mahi to write suicide notes. On November 6, at 3 am, he woke up his daughters and told them that he needed Mahi’s picture to submit it with the police. Guddu reportedly tied the rope to the ceiling raft at the house and asked Mahi to stand on a table.

Younger daughter Ziya captured Mahi’s picture in the mobile phone when she stood on the table with the noose around her neck, the official said. Suddenly, Guddu kicked the table. As a result, Mahi got hanged from the ceiling fan. She cried for help but Guddu just saw her dying, police said. They kept the suicide notes at the crime scene that were later seized by the police. The police added Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code in the case and arrested Guddu. The arrest was made by Sr PI Vinod Patil, WAPI Chanda Dandawate, PSI Manoj Raut and staff including Suresh Barwe, Roshan Durugkar, Atul Shirbhate and others.
