One of the biggest regular season series in college hockey this season begins on Thursday night. Well. 2 Minnesota (8-4, 4-2 Big Ten) visits No. 3 Michigan (9-3, 2-2 Big Ten) for the first of two games in Ann Arbor this weekend. Thursday will be the 11th consecutive game against a ranked opponent for Minnesota. The Golden Gophers split a series last weekend with the No. 7 Penn State Nittany Lions, sweeping a series against No. 12 Notre Dame the week before that. Michigan split with Notre Dame and Penn State over the last two weekends. This is the game of the season in men’s ice hockey.

This game is also a rematch of last year’s Big Ten Tournament Championship game.
Minnesota was the top seed in the tournament after finishing at the top of the regular season standings, but second-seed Michigan came away with a 4-3 win and the trophy.
