PRINCETON – The No. 8 Men’s Water Polo team found out its NCAA Fate and will host the No. 19 Fordham Rams at DeNunzio Pool on Saturday, November 26th.
The Winner will advance to the third opening-round game against Southern California (18-6), with the Winner advancing to the Championship bracket to play UCLA (22-4) at California. In the second opening-round game, Pacific (21-6) will play UC Davis (19-7), with the Winner advancing to the Championship bracket to play California (21-2).
Princeton and Fordham have already met at DeNunzio once this season, providing a thriller in September.
The two squads exchanged goals, tying the game at 6-all at the break. Even at eight, Fordham scored the last two goals of the third stanza.Pierce Maloneyquickly scored on consecutive possessions to begin the final eight minutes to tie the game for an eighth time.Luke Johnstonput Princeton in front, but Fordham answered about 90 seconds later. Roko Pozaric Secured the game-winner with 1:17 to go.
The two teams met in the 2021 NCAA Tournament with Princeton earning a 17-8 at home, the program’s first NCAA win since 2011.
Head Coach Dustin Litvak‘s Squad earned its second straight Northeast Water Polo Conference title on Sunday with a 13-8 decision over No. 18 St. Francis-Brooklyn. Joan Coloma was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
The time for Saturday’s game vs. Fordham will be announced later.
