Australian cricket legend Ian Healy has revealed he was in the dressing room the day David Warners manager James Erskine made the explosive new ball-tampering claim.
Warner released a statement on Instagram on Wednesday announcing that he had withdrawn his bid to overturn the management ban, accusing the review panel of attempts at a public lynching.
Erskine later revealed he believed more players were involved in the 2018 ball-tampering saga in South Africa, before referring to the incident after the 2016 Hobart Test against South Africa.

Warner said we have to turn the ball and the only way we can turn the ball is basically to tamper with it and that’s why they were told to do that.
Healy explained that he went into the dressing rooms on the same day as another Test legend, Mark Taylor.

Mark Taylor and I went from our commentary box in Hobart to the dressing room to support the boys because they had a real failure against South Africa and there were five players cut.
We went in that day and it would have been the day that anonymous people spoke to them and said we pay you nothing but profit and that was the attitude that came out which was not good.

Erskine suggested that Cricket Australia officials were also involved in ball-tampering schemes, stating: you’d have to be a blind black labrador to believe that only Smith, Warner and Bancroft were to blame.
Healy responded by saying I’m a blind black labrador because I don’t know anyone else (who did).
I don’t know of any other cases where James has come out and said that David has kept it well in the house, but now James has opened David’s mouth.
It’s a bombshell that Cricket Australia didn’t want and this independent panel should have been behind closed doors looking into it.
The implications are high-level involvement in this, they’ve only scratched the surface of the story, Pat Welsh added.
