Switzerland’s Conny Perrin made the difference as he helped Hyderabad Strikers go top of the table with a 43-37 win over Delhi Binnys Brigade in the Premier Tennis League at the Balewadi Stadium on Friday.
The 31-year-old Conny, who ranked a career-best 134 in 2018, won his singles match against Sowjanya Bavisetti 12-8 and partnered Sriram Balaji with a similar 12-8 win over Siddhant Banthia and Sowjanya.
Niki Poonacha beat Mohamed Dougaz 10-10. In the final men’s doubles, Poonacha and Balaji lost 9-11 to Banthia and Dougaz. Thus, Hyderabad came out on top with 130 points.
Bangalore Spartans held the hosts Pune Jaguars 40-40, which meant that the team was relegated from the summit with their total of 128 points.
Mumbai Leon Army comfortably stayed in the race for the semi-finals as they defeated Chennai Stallions 43-37 with Valeriya Strakhova playing a key role in the singles and mixed doubles victories. Ramkumar Ramanathan lost his singles match to Mathias Bourgue but won the doubles match with Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan.
