Three Nittany Lions were honored as Walter Camp All-Americans

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. Penn State sophomore offensive lineman Dear Fashanusophomore cornerback Kalen King and a redshirt junior cornerback Joey Porter Jr. All second-team All-American selections were recognized by the Walter Camp Football Foundation on Thursday.

Fashanu, King and Porter are Penn State’s 182nd, 183rd and 184th All-American selections among NCAA-recognized outlets. Penn State has had an All-American in 50 of the last 56 years.

In the year James Franklin era Penn State has 17 All-Americans.

• Fashanu has appeared in 17 career games and started 10 left tackles.
• He has started eight left tackles this season.
• Fashanu has not allowed a sack this season with 299 pass blocking snaps.
• He has yet to be penalized with 542 tackles this season, according to Pro Football Focus.
• Has allowed just seven total pressures on the year with 299 pass blocking snaps.
• 50 pass blocking passes against Ohio State did not allow a single pressure.

• He has started eight games at cornerback this season.
• King is second in the nation with 18 points. He also has two interceptions.
• He also has 27 tackles, including three for a loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
• According to Pro Football Focus, he is the third-ranked cover corner in the country and second among Power Five players.
• According to Coaches By The Numbers, King allows a 44.7 completion percentage when targeted.
• The sophomore picked off a career-high five passes and picked up his second interception of the season against Michigan State. He added to the loss.
• King forced and recovered a fumble against Central Michigan, his second forced fumble and first recovery. He also broke up four passes.
• King recorded his first career shutout at Indiana.
• He had two assists against Maryland.

• Porter has played in 34 career games for the Nittany Lions and started 30 times.
• Was a third-team All-Big Ten selection by the coaches in 2021 and by the media in 2020.
• He has amassed 114 tackles (87 solo), two for a loss, a sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, an interception and 20 pass breakups as a Nittany Lion.
• He is a semi-finalist for the Bednarik and Jim Thorpe awards.
• In man coverage, Porter has allowed just 9 catches for 26 targets (34.6%) and 70 yards.
• Porter allows a 42.3 completion percentage when targeted.
• Porter Jr. is 24th in the country with 11 assists.
• Porter recorded a career-high six tackles against Purdue and earned the Bednarik Award as National Player of the Week.
• Porter’s six assists against the Boilermakers set a school record and set a Big Ten single-game record. He faced Michigan’s Jourdan Lewis (vs. Michigan State, 2015) and Minnesota’s Michael Carter (vs. Purdue, 2012).
