DENTON, Texas (9/12/2022) The North Texas women’s tennis team confirmed its head coach on Friday Sujay Lama has announced the addition of Zoran Korac Jr. to its staff as a volunteer assistant coach.

Korac Jr. comes to UNT after serving as a tennis coach at the OT Tennis Academy in Frisco, Texas. He brings many talents with him, having been a trainer on the junior circuit in both California and Texas since 2006.

“We are very fortunate to have Coach Z join our staff,” Head Coach Sujay Lama said. “He brings with him a wealth of experience as a skilled player and high performance coach. Having another set of eyes is very helpful during training, but even more important during our matches. What stood out to Coach Z when we got to know him was his love and passion for the game and being a parent to two fantastic daughters.”

Prior to his time at OT Tennis Academy, Korac Jr. was the head coach at Sage Hill High School in Newport Coast, California and has also served as an assistant at Irvine Valley College and Portola High School in California.

At IVC, Korac helped the Lasers produce a stellar 40-2 record over two seasons and back-to-back CCCAA State Dual Team Men’s Tennis Championships.

“I am very excited and honored to join the women’s tennis coaching staff at North Texas,” said Korac. “I look forward to sharing my experience, knowledge and competitive spirit with the Mean Green Tennis team.”

Korac, who graduated from UC Irvine in 2005, played Anteaters’ single. He also spent the 2000-2002 seasons at Orange Coast College, where he was California’s No. 1 player in the OCC.

Born and raised in San Marino, California, he was a standout player at San Marino High, where he helped the Titans win four straight CIF championships. In 1998, San Marino was ranked number one in the country in high school tennis.
