NORMAN University of Oklahoma women’s tennis head coach Audra Cohenand vice president and director of athletics Joe Castiglione announced the 2023 OU women’s tennis spring schedule on Saturday.

OU’s challenging schedule features 13 games against 2022 NCAA Tournament teams, hosting 14 opponents.

“We’ve established our program as one of the best in the nation by taking on the challenge,” Cohen said. “We are excited for this very tough schedule that features several top 10 teams on the road before a strong Big 12 Conference schedule. We need Sooner Nation to come out and support us in our pursuit of a national title.”

The Sooners open the season on January 14th with a dual meet against Missouri and Tarleton State before hosting Wyoming on January 17th.

The team will then travel to Ann Arbor, Michigan to face Michigan on January 20th and Columbus, Ohio on January 22nd to face Ohio State.

OU returns home to host ITA Kickoff Weekend and face Minnesota on Jan. 28, while Texas Tech and Tulsa face off on the other side. The winners of each match will face off on January 29 in hopes of punching a ticket to the ITA National Indoor Championships on January 10-12. February in Seattle, Wash.

The team then heads east to Raleigh, N.C., to face NC State on Feb. 4 in a showdown before returning home for three games against Arizona State (Feb. 11), Arkansas (Feb. 25) and Wichita State (March). 5).

Conference play begins against Texas in the 2022 National Championship rematch on March 10 in Austin, Texas. They then head to Waco, Texas to face Baylor on March 12th.

The Big 12 rivalry takes a break when the team hosts SMU on March 15 before returning to conference action against Texas Tech on the 17th. March and against TCU on the 19th. March in Norman.

OU then travels to California to face Pepperdine in Malibu on March 24 and San Diego on March 25.

The team closes its home opener against West Virginia on the 31st. March, against Iowa State on the 2nd. April and against Oklahoma State on the 7th. April.

The Sooners close out the conference on the road with Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan., on April 14 and Kansas in Lawrence, Kan., on April 16.

The 2023 Big 12 Women’s Tennis Championships will be held in Kansas from 20-23. April.

The Sooners are coming off a No. 2 national ranking in 2022 and the program’s most historic season. The team posted the most wins in program history with 32, including eight against top-10 teams and 13 over top-25 teams, captured the ITA National Indoor Championship in the program’s first appearance and won OU’s first Big 12 regular season title.

OU returns graduate students Ivana Corley and Alexandra Pisarevathe retiredCarmen Corley and Layne Sleethjunior Dana Guzman and a sophomore Emma Staker. The team welcomes newcomers Romana Cisovska and Julia García Ruiz.

The Sooners’ home game is open to the public and admission is free.
