Jessie, Demi, Jordan and Kevin will represent Ontario at the 2023 CWG

The EIGHT has chosen a team to compete Canada Winter Games In Prince Edward Island 2023. Because the team will be selected on the 18th-19th. based on the results of the selection tournament held in November, there are no big surprises.

Girls: Jessie Xu (Three10 TTC) and Demi Cai (GTTC Academy)

Boys: Jordan Grewal (The True North TTC) and Kevin Guo (The True North TTC)

Michelle Wang (Elite), Sunny Zhang (GTTC Academy) for girls, James Bei Bei Yu (The True North TTC) and Max Ji (The True North TTC) are alternates. The only surprise is that Max Ji replaced Zelin Ye as an alternate because Zelin finished third in the selection tournament while Max finished fourth.

Canada’s most significant youth event is the Canada Games. From February 18 to March 5, table tennis is one of the 22 sports competing in the multi-sport tournament. The Canada Games brings together more than 2,000 able-bodied athletes as well as athletes with physical and intellectual disabilities for the country’s largest amateur multi-sport event. Alternating between winter and summer, they cover over 30 different sports to showcase the best of Canadian sport and spirit. The Games are held under the leadership of the Canada Gaming Council, which provides continuity, leadership and support. We were here to foster ongoing partnerships and ensure the Games leave a lasting legacy for communities from coast to coast to coast.

Table tennis has a longer history on Canada’s Games program than the Olympic program, appearing at every Winter Games since the 1967 inaugural event. There have always been women’s and men’s competitions as well.

In control Team leader Betty Zareba and coach Hongtao Chen, team members, including alternates, will hone their singles skills and increase team spirit at training camps on the 21st-22nd. January and 4-5 February. They also represent their respective clubs in the Ontario Winter Cup on the first weekend of January.
