Barnwell excels at senior level, GT dominates DCB at youth level

THE Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) began 2022 with competitions that began in 2019 but were suspended due to the country’s shutdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

DCC won the GISE Star Party Rentals and Trophy Stall 1st Division 2 day competition by defeating GCC in the final and were crowned 2019 champions.

GCC finished second after Everest and Police lost in the semi-finals.

The final was played on 19 and 20 February 2022, with Christopher Barnwell winning Zone B MVP with a total of 425 runs, including three tons, the highest being 134 in the opening innings.

The former West Indies T20 all-rounder took 14 wickets with a bowling best of 6-16. He also took 6 catches and scored a run.

Bashkar Yadram won the regional MVP by scoring 275 runs, 71 of which was his highest score. Yadram took 15 wickets with a best of 7-70. He took four catches and scored two runs.

Trevon Griffith was the man of the final with a marathon triple century as he scored 173 in the final after scoring 175 in the semi-final against Everest at Camp Road.

Sponsored by Ramchand Auto Spares, Survival Group of Companies & Trophy Stalin, the U-19 competition was inaugurated in March.

There are four preliminary matches left in this competition before the semi-finals and final. This competition was hampered by rain, trials and unavailability of fields and should be completed as soon as the weather improves next year.

GCA Under-15, U-17 and U-19 won all the Demerara Cricket Board Inter-Association tournaments for 2022.

Dave Mohabir, Emmanuel Lewis, Brandon Henry, Reyaz Latif, Shane Prince, Dhanesh Persaud and Darwin Larose were selected for the Demerara Inter-County squad which was captained by Dave Mohabir who was named captain of the Guyana Under-15 team while Shane Prince, Jonathan Mentore played. Presidents X1.

Alvin Mohabir, Jonathan Van Lange, Riyad Latif, Jadon Campbell, Dillon Ramsaroop, Myhiem Khan and Wavell Allen were selected for the Demerara Inter-County U-17s.

Alvin Mohabir was named captain of Guyana’s U-17 and U-19 teams, which include Jadon Campbell, Jonathan Van Lange, Shamar Yearwood and Dillon Ramsaroop.

GCC won the NBS 2nd Division 40 final in the 2019/2020 season with DCC as runners-up, while the losers in the semi-finals were MYO and Police.

The GCA/GTT T10 was released and this race was supposed to be played just after the pandemic as an icebreaker, but it was played in October as a playoff.

Everest were crowned inaugural champions by defeating GCC under the lights at DCC. The losing semi-finalists were DCC and Transport.

The Atlantic Marine Supplies Inc. Suzuki Motorcycles 2nd Division T20 is underway and should be completed in 2023.

The 2022/2023 GISE Star Party Rentals & Trophy Stall 1st Division 2-Day is in its early stages with plenty of matches to play.

The GCA 2023 U-15 team won their first DCB U-15 association match against East Bank Association where captain Emmanuel Lewis scored a century.
