Last week, BBN celebrated reports that Liam Coen will be returning to Lexington next season to once again be the Kentucky Wildcats’ play caller.
Although there is no official announcement, everything seems to be ready to go immediately Los Angeles Rams finish their season here in a little over a month.
As he does every week, Coen spent time with the LA media about this week’s upcoming game, but this week was a little different when the questions came from Kentucky’s OC position.
More specifically: would he take the job?
Coen’s response: No update right now, though he didn’t deny the rumors either.
It’s clear that Coen wants to finish the year with the Rams, as the coaching set-up is vastly different in the NFL than it is in college football.
He said as much as the conversation continued;
The biggest thing is to focus on the season. “That conversation I’m going to have with (Kentucky) at the end of the season,” Coen said. The biggest thing is to try to do right in this place and end this season in the right way. That’s the main focus, getting Baker (Mayfield) up to speed, preparing these guys and being there for them.
It looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer before we hear an official announcement from Coen, but reports of his return are already working in Great Britain’s favor on the recruiting trail.
Gonna be a fun offense for Kroger Field again.
