The White Ferns ODI series against Bangladesh has ended in another washout with only 26.5 overs completed at Seddon Park in Hamilton this afternoon.
The White Ferns were set to bat after Bangladesh won the toss and laid a solid foundation as openers Sophie Devine (42 off 39) and Suzie Bates (51 off 80) started well, while Amelia Kerr (22 not out) and Maddy Green (five not out) were in the middle when it rained.
The Ferns won the ODI series 1-0 after a 3-0 win in the Twenty20 series and their players will now return to the domestic T20 Super Smash before heading to the T20 World Cup in South Africa in February.
Domestically, Northern Districts Caitlin Gurrey set the record for the highest domestic women’s one-day score in New Zealand, hitting a sensational 183 against Central Districts today.
Gurreys blasted 145 balls with 20 fours and seven sixes, equaling Suzie Bates’ 183 not out for Otago in 2006.
Unlike Bates, Gurrey’s efforts were rewarded with victory as ND posted 318-7 before being bowled out for a CD of 195 to claim their biggest one-day win by 123 runs.
The other two domestic one-day games today were rained out, leaving ND at the top of the table.
