Kalinina commented on the win on her Instagram page after the award ceremony of the competition.
“It was very important for me to win today for my country and my family. I am very proud to be Ukrainian,” Kalinina said at the ceremony itself.
He later thanked France for supporting him in a post on Instagram.
“Special thanks to France for our support. Thanks to my team, let’s keep going!” Kalinina wrote.
A week earlier it was reported that Kalinina had returned to the top 50 in the world. Next week he will enter the top 40 in the world rankings.
