VIJAYAWADA: Tribal students of Andhra Pradesh continued to showcase their talent at the Ekalavya Adarsh ​​Gurukul School National Championships and won prizes in various sports. The first day of the national event began at Acharya Nagarjuna University on Sunday. Tribal students from across the country competed in archery, gymnastics, kho-kho, kabaddi, volleyball and table tennis competitions.

V Lakshman Reddy made his mark in the under-14 boys gymnastics series. While K Kronal of Maharashtra was second and B Aditya of Madhya Pradesh secured the third position. In the under-19 gymnastics category, J Chiranjeevi secured the second position and in the women’s category, PSavitri also secured the second position.

Proving their strength, the girls performed better than the boys in Kho-Kho. In the Under-19 Girls’ Pool A match, the Andhra Pradesh team beat Madhya Pradesh by 3 points. In the Kho-Kho under-19 boys category, Andhra Pradesh lost to Telangana State by seven points. In the Pool B match, Rajasthan won by 1 point against Jharkhand.

Andhra Pradesh girls showed exemplary performance in archery. Basai Preethi topped the competition with 232 points in the 30m category and secured the third position in the 20m category with 242 points. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh was ranked 18th in the 20m category.

In the group category, AP archers secured the 5th position with 1,213 points followed by Telangana with 1,158 points. In the under-14 category for girls, the Telangana team topped with 1166 points while the AP team was third.
