CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – At today’s regularly scheduled City Council meeting, Mayor Paulette Guajardo and the City Council approved an ordinance authorizing a five-year lease with the Coastal Bend Cricket Club. The agreement gives the Cricket Club the opportunity to use the cricket field. The City of Corpus Christi will install a cricket field at the Greenwood Sports Complex located at 4033 Greenwood Drive.

The goal of the 10-year parks, recreation and open space master plan is to expand

provision of recreational opportunities/access to park services in accordance with the interests of the city’s residents.

This first cricket ground expands recreational offerings to a new segment of the population and further promotes healthy lifestyles and exercise.

The expanding supply of recreational facilities encourages sports tourism by allowing cricket teams to travel from areas such as Houston, Austin and San Antonio to attend tournaments, increasing revenue for hotels and restaurants.
