Are you still nominated for Peyton Bowen?

Peyton Bowen is technically still with the Notre Dame football program in one of the wildest recruitments anyone will ever see. While it seems unlikely that he will truly decommit to Oregon, Bowen has yet to be submitted the paperwork to officially sign with Oregon.

Bowen had been committed to the Notre Dame football program for just under a year, and it seemed like they were always the team to beat. But out of nowhere, as can happen in the current state of college football, Oregon pounced on the moneybags. Considering what was rumored to be a $2 million offer, while that may not be entirely true, there’s clearly some money thrown his way.

It looked too good for Bowen, who faked it all, even at an impromptu selection ceremony this morning. He threw the Notre Dame hat on his head for a moment before taking it down and replacing it with the Oregon hat on the table. Since then, there have been rumors of indecision and behind-the-scenes deliberations that have stalled the completion of all paperwork necessary to enroll at Oregon.

In one of the wildest sagas you’ll ever see when it comes to student-athlete recruiting, Peyton Bowen looks set to continue just a little longer. While I’ve read that Notre Dame fans shouldn’t get their hopes up, anything, quite literally, can happen at this point. As we’ve seen so far, Bowen committed to a school he hadn’t even visited or talked to in more than a couple of months.

Honestly, whatever happens in the end, I want this drama and saga to be over and done with. I’m sure most fans of most fans feel the same way. Frankly, I’m sure Bowen and his parents especially feel this way. But when it comes down to it, he’s a young high school student still figuring out life.

If he hasn’t already, he will learn sooner or later that the way he handled the situation today was not the right way. We all make mistakes; we are all human. He is young; she learns. I truly wish nothing but the best for Peyton Bowen moving forward. Good luck, Peyton.
