Maple Grove Girls Hockey defeats Champlin Park/Coon Rapids

Stella Retrum scored three goals to lead the Maple Grove girls hockey team to a 4-2 win over Champlin Park/Coon Rapids.

Retrum scored twice on a short field goal, in both the first and second periods, and now has 15 goals this season.

Bella Shipley had two assists and scored the other Crimson goal.

Dani Strom stopped 34 shots in Maple Grove.

The Crimson led 4-0 after two periods, but CP/CR played a strong third period, getting goals from Taylor Zahalka and Sydney Burnevik in the first six minutes of the period, but couldn’t score again.

With the win, the Crimson is now 9-1-0, while the Bluebirds fall to 7-5-0.

Both teams will play in holiday tournaments starting Monday at Maple Grove in Edina and Champlin Park/Coon Rapids in South St. Paul.
