The Young and the Restless: Will Cricket/Danny reunite? Christine/Phyllis fight?

There are certain things that last a long time Young & Restless viewers will never forget… and some they will never forgive. Perhaps one of the biggest is the huge mess Phyllis caused when she laid eyes on the happily married Danny, which ended up ruining his life with the true love of Christine. This week, all three characters return to Genoa City at the same time… and it promises to be very interesting!

“When Christine learns that Danny is in town, she immediately starts reminiscing about their time together,” Lauralee Bell introduces. “They’re nice because people who have been watching for a long time get to relive it, and newer viewers get a little bit of context about who these characters were and what the history was.”

However, some of those early scenes are downright tortuous for the actor. “In some of the first scenes, I have a Minnie Mouse, Chicago accent. I’m sure some people think it’s cute, but I have a hard time looking at it! The best thing about it for me is that you get to see my growth as an actor. When we get to the later scenes and Christine confronts Phyllis, my voice drops a couple of octaves and I really give it to her! Christine went from a sweet and innocent “Don’t mess with me!”

Sure, it’s been years since their rivalry peak… but that doesn’t necessarily mean old wounds have healed. “You always hope that someone will come over to the kinder side, but they have that little spark and you don’t know what triggers Phyllis. So Christine is always guarded around her.”

As for Danny and Christine’s long-awaited reunion, it’s bittersweet in many ways. “We start with catching up,” Bell introduces, “but then we get into what our lives might have been like if Phyllis hadn’t come into the picture. But our lives have moved on. We’re in different places. It’s sweet and emotional and awkward.”
