The week between Christmas and New Year’s is always packed with holiday tournaments, and several of the teams in this week’s HNIB News Massachusetts Division 1 Top 20 teams are featured.

It starts with the number 1 St. John’s Prep (2-0-1). After knocking off RI’s LaSalle Academy (5-1) last week, the Eagles host the Peter Frates Tournament on Wednesday with a first round matchup against the now #9 seed on Thursday. BC High (1-1-1).

#2 Catholic memorial (2-0-0) returned to action just before Christmas with a big win over #10 Belmont (4-2). This week, the Knights host the William Hanson Invitational Tournament and face defending Connecticut D1 state champion Notre Dame in West Haven in a first-round game on Tuesday. CM will also see Natick on Saturday.

With a pair of wins 6-0 (Andover, Weymouth), Hingham (3-0-1) remains solid at No. 3. A huge game looms Saturday against #7 Marshfield.

Postponement due to weather, #4 Braintree (2-0-0) was inactive last week. The Wamps will face Andover (Wednesday) and have a makeup game Saturday at 5 Pope Francis (2-0-1).

In their only action last week, the Cardinals finished 17th St. John’s (S), 5-2. They will also be playing in the Peter Frates tournament and will face the #16 seed Central Catholic on Wednesday.

#6 Arlington (4-0-0) picked up a huge win Friday, defeating BC High. The victory came as a result of Wilmington’s 4-2 victory. The Ponders are out of vital Middlesex League contention at No.8 Reading (3-0-0). Game time is 12:30 at Ed Burns Arena. The Rockets have yet to allow a goal in their three games.

#7 Marshfield (3-0-0) plays in the MHL Cup this week and faces No. 20 Framingham on Tuesday.

BC High took a slight dip after the Arlington loss, but can gain some ground with a good showing at the Peter Frates Tournament this week.

Belmont (3-1-1) completes the Top 10. Watertown held the Marauders to a 0-0 tie before losing to CM. They have next week off.

#11 Xaverian (2-1-0) beat solid Duxbury and will face St. John’s (S) Tuesday in the MHL Cup. #12 Wellesley improved to 4-0-0 with a big win over #18 Lincoln-Sudbury (4-2).

#13 Franklin (2-0-0 blanked King Philip and ready for the Christie Serino Classic and host Malden Catholic on Tuesday night. #14 St. Mary’s (4-0-1) is also in Serino and faces Weymouth on Tuesday.
