Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant was hospitalized after he was injured in a car accident in northern Uttarakhand on Friday.
State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed the news on Twitter and wished Pant, 26, a speedy recovery.
Auto Pant crashed into a divider and caught fire early Friday, CNN affiliate CNN News-18 reported, citing police.
The wicket-keeper batsman is stable and currently undergoing a check-up, according to Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah.
My thoughts and prayers are with Rishabh Pant as he fights his way back to recovery,” Shah tweeted. We will closely monitor his progress and give him all the support he needs.
Pant has two cuts on his forehead, a torn ligament in his right knee and has also injured his right wrist, ankle, toe and suffered abrasions on his back, according to a BCCI statement.
Pant is one of India’s rising stars and has recently been named the brand ambassador for her home state of Uttarakhand, according to CNN News-18.
Several cricketers wished him a speedy recovery on Twitter.
Former Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting said he was thinking about Pant. Hope you’re on the mend and back on your feet soon, he wrote on Friday.
I wish Rishabh a very speedy and complete recovery! Be careful, Indian cricket politician Gautam Gambhir wrote.
Noted Indian cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle said he desperately hoped he was fine and would recover soon.
