World Table Tennis (WTT) has entered into a multi-year partnership with blockchain company NFT Technologies to develop the Web 3.0 strategy of the International Table Tennis Federations (ITTF).
The partnership spans fan engagement, digital collectibles, metaverse experiences and interactive gaming.
WTTs claims its events reach 519 million fans, and NFT Technologies aims to engage them by developing and implementing a Web 3.0 strategy.
“Table tennis is exploding in global popularity and participation, and WTT has been very forward-thinking and progressive in leading innovation in sports technology,” said Adam De Cata, CEO of NFT Tech.
We would be able to build exciting multi-faceted experiences that further engage fans and players, including play-to-earn, a multi-billion dollar opportunity in itself.
Michael Brown, WTT’s CFO, added: WTT has been researching and planning its entry into the Web 3.0 space for over 15 months. He has researched and analyzed ways we can increase fan engagement through Web 3.0.
The partnership with NFT Tech is the first big step in this journey. NFT Tech has proven to be an industry leader in technological innovation in sports, which we believe is critical to growing our sport.
