Ivn Rincn won the Fuentepelayo Table Tennis Trophy

The traditional Christmas table tennis championships organized in Fuentepelayo, sponsored by Taller Cultural ry, the Caja Cega/Cajaviva foundation and the city council, brought together more than fifty players from different categories and genders.

This race was designed as a posthumous tribute to Miguel Gilsanz, who was champion in several editions and recently passed away.

In previous years, so many players had never registered for this championship, which helped to increase the quality and quantity of matches.

In the school class, he managed to defeat Juan Ada, who defeated Miguel Fernanzi in the final after several exciting draws.

Navas de Oro’s Rebeca Aguilar took the women’s title. The second place trophy went to M Jos Herrero’s show.

In the absolute senior category, a preliminary qualifying phase was organized in order to select those aspiring for privileged places, where the players were divided into ten groups. After exciting matches, veterans Vicente Navares and Juan Francisco Herrero made it to the semi-finals to face young talents Ivn Rincni and Vctor Gilsanz. And the saying that the youth will rule was fulfilled.

The final was the best of three games between Ivni and Vctor. The equality of forces forced them to play a third game, where the best part was won in the form of Rincn’s victory. It has been a step forward in his stellar career after finishing second in the 2021 edition.

At the culmination of this activity, the authorities, representatives of the sponsoring communities and the organizers distributed various accreditation awards. There were emotional moments at Miguel Gilsanz’s tribute as his widow received a memorial award, followed by immense respect and recognition from the great master.
