SkySports secures the rights to South Africa’s T20 cricket league

Comcast-owned pay-TV operator Sky’s Sky Sports unit has announced a five-year cricket broadcasting rights deal with the new South African T20 cricket league, adding to their cricket portfolio.

For the first time, Sky will show 33 matches on the Sky Sports Cricket channels for four weeks from 10 January.

The league features six privately-owned teams that face each other twice in the round robin stage before the semi-finals and final, live on Sky Sports.

Bryan Henderson, Sky Sports’ director of cricket, said in a statement: “We are delighted to add SA20 to our portfolio of cricket rights. We believe it will be a great competition featuring some of England’s best players.

Sky said it welcomes the SA20 to Sky Sports as the new flagship event in the world T20 cricket schedule, allowing both current, exclusive and younger generations of cricket fans access to watch some of the best players on the global stage.

Sky Sports will also broadcast three England Men’s ODIs in South Africa on 27 and 29 January and 1 February 2023.

High-profile players taking part in the competition include Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran, Jos Buttler, Eoin Morgan and Moeen Ali.

All 33 matches will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Cricket.
