NCAA Alleges Numerous Violations Against Michigan Football, Including Level I Violation Against Jim Harbaugh for Failure to Cooperate with Investigators

Per Dan Wetzel of Yahoo Sports, Harbaugh allegedly failed to cooperate with investigators when he faced questions about the program’s Level II violations. The charge against Harbaugh is a Level I misdemeanor, the highest level, and could result in significant recruiting restrictions and/or a multi-game suspension.

Per The Athletic’s Nicole AuerbachMichigan was notified of the allegations by the NCAA Thursday night, meaning a 90-day window has begun for the incident before an official notification is issued.

Michigan is accused of Level II violations, which include meeting with two recruits during a time of COVID-19 mortality, having too many coaches at practice and watching players practice through a video feed.

In Harbaugh’s eight seasons at Michigan, he has never been cited for a Level I violation. Harbaugh is coming off back-to-back Big Ten championships and College Football Playoff appearances with the Wolverines. His name has been linked to several open jobs in the NFL in the past week, including open jobs with the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers.

Harbaugh released a statement Thursday saying he expects to coach at Michigan next season several hours before the allegations broke.
