GameCenter Final: UND 4, Lindenwood 2 – Grand Forks Herald

GRAND FORKS Tyler Kleven scored two more goals in a four-goal weekend as UND beat Lindenwood 4-2 to clinch the series sweep.

First star: Tyler Kleven, JA, 2 goals.
Second star: Ben Strinden, JA, 1 goal, 1 assist.
Third star: Ethan Fresh, JA, 2 assists.

Lindenwood 1, AND 0 David Gagnon (Jack Anderson, Drew Kuzma) 8:48. UND calls again from behind. It all starts with Griffin Ness taking a dump before getting red-lined and iced. Lindenwood wins the next game and Gagnon punches a point through traffic past goaltender Jakob Hellsten.

Lindenwood 2, AND 0 Caige Sterzer (Adam Conquest, Mitch Allard) 12:47. The Lions take another two-goal lead after the second goal. Two UND players collapse on top of each other in the circle and Sterzer is left alone on the crease. He does it with his third goal of the season.

Lindenwood 2 and 1 Ben Strinden (Mark Senden, Ethan Frisch) 1:48. Immediately after the end of the five-minute power play, Frisch makes an excellent hold on the blue line and gets the puck to Senden in the left circle. Senden’s shot is blocked and floats through the air into the slot where Strinden runs into it for his second goal of the season.

Lindenwood 2 and 2 Tyler Kleven (Nick Portz, Ben Strinden) 6:11. Strinden gets his second point of the night by winning the puck battle. Portz then passes a huge pass down the ice to Kleven, whose first attempt is blocked. It comes right back to him and he buries another. This is Kleven’s third goal of the weekend.

AND 3, Lindenwood 2 Tyler Kleven (Owen McLauglin, Ethan Frisch) 11:56 (p.). At the end of the power play, McLaughlin gets the puck in space, holds onto the puck and rips one off the inside of the post. The ball kicks to Kleven in the opposite circle and he taps it home before Burnham can get over. This is Kleven’s fourth goal of the weekend.

JA 4, Lindenwood 2 Mark Senden (Gavin Hai) 18:11. Shark passes to Senden in the defensive zone, Senden does the work himself. He chips the puck around a defender in the defensive zone, chips it around another in the neutral zone, takes the puck in a hurry and snaps it five-hole past Burnham.
