The Italian tennis star is embroiled in a fake vaccine certificate scandal

Camila Giorgi, the Italian tennis star with three career singles titles and more than 400 tour wins, was caught up in the fake vaccine certificate scandal.

Giorgi’s family doctor, Daniela Grillone, claimed in an interview with Italian media that the tennis star received a fake COVID-19 vaccination certificate and that none of his family members have been vaccinated either, according to Yahoo Sport.

Giorgi was named in a December report that revealed the names of celebrities and athletes who allegedly did not receive the COVID vaccine.

According to News.com.au, Grillone was arrested in February 2022 for allegedly giving shots with fake serums. He also allegedly supplied fake vaccination certificates to high-profile figures in Italy.

“The Giorgi family has been in my care for a long time. Camila Giorgi suffered from so-called tennis elbow,” Grillone told Italy’s Corriere del Veneto. “Shortly before the beginning of the summer, he had come to ask for the opportunity to get false proof of all the mandatory vaccinations as well as the COVID vaccine. I can confirm with absolute certainty that none of the Giorgi family vaccinations have actually been administered.

“I have not received payment in that case. I am deeply shocked and sorry for my actions.”

A WTA spokesperson told News.com.au it was following the investigation in Italy.

“We are aware of the allegations and are currently monitoring the situation and possible investigations,” the spokesperson said.

Giorgi played in tournaments last season where his vaccination status could be an issue. He reached the third round of the Australian Open and lost in the second round of the US Open.

Giorgi did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
