Well. 8 Mens Tennis secured three top-25 singles wins on the final day of the Miami Spring Invite

Coral Gables, Fla. Well. 8 Texas Men’s Tennis defeated top three Georgia singles opponents on the final day of the Miami Spring Invite on Sunday at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center in Coral Gables, Florida. The Longhorns also won two doubles matches against Miami to close out the tournament.

Second year student Pierre-Yves Bailly posted the group’s top singles victory over No. 1 Ethan Quinn, 6-3, 6-4. Bailly did not play in the fall due to injury, which is why he is currently unraed. Junior No. 3 Eliot Spizzirri opened the day by completing a sweep of his three singles matches in the event, defeating No. 10 Philip Henning 6-1, 6-2. Junior Ishaan Talluri then registered his first ranked singles win as a Longhorn by defeating No. 21 Blake Croyder, 6-1, 6-4. In the other two singles races, senior Nevin Arimilli fell to No. 106 Trent Bryde, 6-4, 6-4 and senior Chi Chi Huang dropped his match 70. Teodor Giuscalle 6-2, 6-3.

Later in doubles, Talluri and Huang completed their three doubles matches of the tournament with an 8-4 win over Martin Vergara and Franco Aubone of the Hurricanes. Spizzirri teamed up with Arimilli to win 8-3 against Martin Katz and Nacho Serra Sanchez, with Bailly teaming up with the junior. Hi Woldeabwho returned from injury, but the duo fell to Antonio Prat and Dan Martin, 8-1.

The Longhorns return to Florida State next week to face the 13th-ranked Florida Gators in Gainesville in the first doubleheader of the season at 12 PM ET/11 CT on Sunday, January 15.
