Tennis has been the talk of the town for the past year, and now Tennis365 can reveal a sneak peak of what to expect from the Netflix series, Break Point.
We’ve gotten access to the first five episodes of the show, which takes https://www.tennis365.com/wordpress/wp-admin/edit.php?page=homepage-orderrs behind the scenes on a tennis tour. unprecedented access that offers immersive viewing.
From the team behind the hugely successful Netflix series F1: Drive to Survive, Break Point won’t disappoint as it opens up tennis to a new audience, and here are some of the revelations we’ll see in the opening three episodes.
EPISODE 1: Australian Open
Key players: Nick Kyrgios (Australia), Thanasi Kokkinakis (Nicks’ doubles partner, Australia)
This opener focuses on the enduringly intriguing Kyrgios as he makes a run for the Australian Open doubles title with close friend Kokkinaki.
The struggles he goes through off the courts are the most interesting to watch, we get to hear about his mother and see his blossoming romance with Costeen Hatz.
Kyrgios openly admits he may be close to retirement from a sport that pushes him to the brink on and off the court, and tennis brings him joy as he wins the doubles title in Melbourne and sets him up for a 2022 season that included a run in the Wimbledon singles final.
EPISODE 2: Australian Open
Key players: Matteo Berrettini (Italy), Ajla Tomljanovic (Australia)
This episode takes us to the romance between Berrettini and Tomljanovic.
We get to see their incredibly messy hotel room in Melbourne and see how they comfort each other as they enjoy contrasting fortunes at the Australian Open.
Highlights showing Berrettini’s adoring family in Italy are highlights, as is the duo’s explanation of the struggles they face in the heat of battle on the pitch.
Tomljanovic suggests he is retiring from the sport after losing to Paula Badosa in the first round, but Berrettini does his best to dispel his disappointment.
EPISODE 3: Indian Wells
Key players: Maria Sakkari (Greece), Taylor Fritz (USA)
The best of the first three episodes is Maria Sakkari, who reflects on her brief “retirement” from tennis and Fritz’s victory at her home tournament in Indian Wells.
Sakkar’s story includes reflections on her mother’s success in putting tennis on the map in Greece during her playing career, receives respectful coverage, and Maria’s dedication to doing her best is reflected in footage of her work in the gym.

Confirming she has decided to “retire” tennis, she contacted her coaching team four days later to begin a new training schedule, with the Greek star shining as she reached the final at Indian Wells.
Fritz’s story has an extremely happy ending as he lifts the title with a win against Rafael Nadal, but that’s only part of the story.
After Fritz injured his ankle in the warm-up on the morning of the final, his coaching team (including the respected Paul Annacone) strongly urged him not to play in the final against Nadal.
Fritz rejects their advice and goes on to claim the biggest win of his career when the Netflix show makes no mention of the injury Nadal suffered during the final.
NETFLIX RESTRICTION JUDGMENT
Break Point lives up to its billing – and the hope is that this first batch of shows will lead to a series that will continue for years to come.
Tennis fans will enjoy the show, and newcomers to the sport should be intrigued by the lifestyles and challenges of the game’s top stars.
Our sport is eager to shift the narrative away from established stars like Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams, and this show can help with that.
We’ll go over the last two parts of this installment Netflix breaking point in the coming days, with the first five episodes available on January 13.
