A new exhibition about the Chinese craft spirit opens

An exhibition illuminating the spirit of Chinese handicrafts began on Tuesday at China’s Millennium Monument in Beijing.

The “Sharpening the Sword in 10 Years – Photo Exhibition of Ingenious Figures of Great Powers” exhibition features 63 groups of Chinese stories covering epidemic prevention, aviation, science and technology, environmental protection, poverty alleviation, intangible cultural heritage and architectural design, innovation and education through images, videos and with the help of scenes, according to China’s Millennium Monument, which was sent to the Global Times on Wednesday.

The 63 figures from various fields include agronomist Chen Risheng, virologist Zeng Yi, Wei Baoguo, a scientist who made a significant impact on the BeiDou navigation satellite system, Liu Guoliang, chairman of the Chinese Table Tennis Association, Zhong Liansheng, a national-level intangible cultural heritage inheritor. Jingtailan cloisonn originated in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), L Zhou, director of Beijing Central Axis World Heritage Application and others.

“We hope to show the great achievement that all walks of life in our country have achieved through the great deeds of the 63 figures,” the organizer told the Global Times.

“I have seen many brilliant Chinese people full of passion and energy when they entered their chosen field. They devote all their youth to their tasks in the spirit of craftsmanship throughout their lives, which is very worth learning for the young generations. We must carry forward the spirit of ingenuity, dedication and excellence”, one visitor to the exhibition told the Global Times.

From one of the most famous classical Chinese paintings by Wang Ximeng, an artist who lived during the Song Dynasty (960-1279), the visual color of the exhibition Panorama of Rivers and Mountains is based mainly on cyan and green.

Several interactive experience areas have also been built in the interaction area. Visitors can learn about the construction process of China’s space station and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge according to the timeline. They can also participate in some sports games such as table curling and the on-site maze.
