The colonels and Norwegians fought in singles after the colonels struck first Christopher Stahlbrand and Zach White took the win from the No. 2 position.
Paul-Antoine Brazet and Arthur Bugeaud dropped out of the No. 3 spot soon after, leaving the doubles point for the No. 1 match. Moritz Mayer and J. Anurag Reddy fought hard but lost the match 7-5, giving the Norwegians the upper hand going into the singles competition.
Bugeaud was the first Colonel to fall, dropping his match in straight sets to Josef Zapletal, 6-2, 6-1.
Stahlbrand, Mayer and Reddy won their matches in two sets from the top three spots in the lineup.
White dropped his match in straight sets to Emilio Bravo, 7-5, 6-2.
NKU won the match by defeating Brazet in a three-set thriller at No. 5.
Shortly after, EKU welcomed Campbellsville to the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
The Maroon and White came out of the gate hot, claiming a doubleheader over the Tigers with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Stahlbrand and White dominated again as they won 6-1, and Mayer and Reddy capped EKU’s doubles with a 6-4 win.
Stahlbrand was the first Colonel to place in singles, winning in dominant fashion 6-0, 6-1.
Mayer, Bugeaud, Reddy and Brazet then won their singles matches, giving the Colonels six points to win the match.
“I think we competed very well today. When we get a chance to work on some fundamentals, I think we’ll see different results in close games like this,” head coach Adam Cohen said.

The Colonels will have three days off from competition before facing in-state foe Louisville at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Sunday, January 22 at 5:00 p.m.
