Boston College Eagle Elite Invitational Final Results | Battle in Beantown final results

Storrs, Conn. – The University of Connecticut track and field teams played strong at the Boston College Eagle Elite Invitational on Friday and the Battle in Beantown on Saturday.

Both teams continued to set many personal bests and top scores this weekend. The distance runners took the first meet, and the track and field athletes competed in the second 2-day meet event.

There were a total of 13 top five finishes at the Eagle Elite Invitational. The highlight of the day for the men was James Maniscalco when he finished first in the 3000 meters in 8:18.98. In addition, Christopher Lepore set a personal best and finished second with a time of 8:19.70. Three other men would set personal bests in the 800 meters and the mile.

For the women, three runners would also set personal bests at the Eagle Elite Invitational. The highlight of the day was Jenna Zydanowicz when he set his own record in the Mile with a time of 4:48.20, finishing second. That time marks her 10th all-time in the Indoor Mile at UConn. Chloe Thomas would also finish in the top five in the mile in 4:48.30.

There were a total of 26 top five finishes in the Battle in Beantown. Highlights of the day for the men were Joey O’Brien and Terrell Williams. O’Brien placed first in the 300 meters with a time of 33.55. That time is the all-time record at UConn in the Indoor 300m. Williams then broke her previous personal best in the 60 hurdles last week again this weekend. He finished second with a time of 7.73. That time is the sixth best time in the country this season.

In addition, three other men’s results moved into the top 10 all-time at UConn. Marc Morrison is sixth all-time in the indoor long jump (7.52 m), Wellington Ventura is seventh all-time indoors in the 200 meters (21.41), and Travis Roux is tenth all-time in the indoor shot put (19.18 m).

The highlights of the women’s day were Sofia Wittmann, A’Liyah Thomasand Caroline Rice. All three competitors finished in the top 10 all-time at UConn. Wittmann is third all-time in the indoor pole vault (3.75m), Thomas is tenth all-time in the indoor long jump (5.91m) and Rice is sixth all-time in the indoor 600m (1:36.61). .

Director of Athletics Beth Alford-Sullivan is proud of the way both teams have produced outstanding performances for the third time competing this indoor season.

“It’s been a great race yesterday and here in the race today,” Alford-Sullivan said. “We’ve won a lot of events and seen a lot of personal bests.”

The Huskies will next compete on Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28 at the Dr. Sander Invitational Columbia Challenge at the Nike Track & Field Center, The Armory in New York City.
