Washington and Barber were named KCAC T&F Athletes of the Week

WICHITA, Kan. Jaylan Washington and Laurel Barber The University of Ottawa track and field teams were named KCAC Athletes of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Two student-athletes were selected for their performances on the 16th-22nd. January by a vote of the conference’s sports information directors. All KCAC players share the honorable mention of the weekShare bank.

Men’s track athlete of the week
Jaylan Washington – University of Ottawa
Jr. | Harker Heights, Texas

Washington has been on a tear to start this indoor season, finishing third in the 60-meter dash at every meet she has competed in. He placed second in the Washburn Rust Buster and clocked a personal best time of 6.77 seconds. which is also a school record. Washington also PR’d in the 200m this weekend with a time of 22.10. This is the second time this season that Washington has been named the KCAC Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

Laurel Barber – University of Ottawa
Jr. | Alma, Kan.

Barber placed fifth in the Washburn Rust Buster shot put with a new PR distance of 12.98 meters. The javelin All-American has had success changing her shot thrust during the indoor season.
