CHESTNUT HILL, Mess. Despite holding a 41-25 shot advantage, Boston College fell 3-1 in the finals Saturday night to fourth-ranked Boston University in the 290th Battle of Comm Ave at a sold-out Kelley Rink.

The Eagles fell to 9-9-5 (5-6-4 HEA) and snapped a five-game unbeaten streak at home against the Terriers (19-6-0, 13-4-0 HEA) that dates back to December. 1, 2017.

Drew Commesso finished the night with 40 saves for BU, which went 2-1-0 in the three-game Hockey East regular season.

Boston University took the lead 1:25 into the second period when Wilmer Skoog took a cross-zone pass from Devin Kaplan under the left point and slipped a shot under the crossbar.

Case McCarthy doubled the Terriers’ lead midway through the frame when he snuck over the left point Mitch Benson right shoulder through the screen.

Boston College scored back on a 5-3 power play at 14:46 as Nikita Nesterenko was found Andre Gasseau pops into the back door for the first time inside the right post. Eamon Powell collected a secondary assist for Gasseau’s fifth of the year.
