IRON MOUNTAIN Mich. (WLUC) – The Kingsford hockey team is hosting its annual Pink the Rink event to help fight cancer.
For Thursday’s game against Negaunee, the Flivvers wore custom pink uniforms that were auctioned off to help raise money for the Dickinson Hospitals Foundation.
Participants were encouraged to wear pink and the raffle was pink. According to the organizers, cancer affects almost everyone and it is important to support those fighting it.
Funds raised tonight will go toward what we call Hockey Hugs, said Tamara Juul, executive director of the Dickinson Hospitals Foundation. It buys fleece, which is used to make blankets for those in care.
Juul said he plans to raise $2,000 for the foundation this year.
