Football blacklist: Bukayo Saka, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Lianne Sanderson on the list

Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford have been named in a list of the most influential black people in British football.

Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira and Burnley boss Vincent Kompany are included in the coaching category.

Pundit and ex-England Lianne Sanderson are also on this year’s list.

The Football Black List, first published in 2008, highlights black industry professionals who are positive influencers.

The names of the eight categories will be decided by a panel of experts including representatives from the Premier League, the Professional Footballers’ Association, the League Managers’ Association, the EFL and the anti-racism group Kick It Out.

The 2022 list also includes Deji Davies, Les Ferdinand and Jobi McAnuff. Davies is an outside director at Brentford and the only black board member at a Premier League club, Ferdinand is the only black director in football in the game, while McAnuff is a member of the Football Association board.

Leon Mann, founder of the Football Blacklist, said: “I am particularly proud that the list now includes board members and managers at the top of the game, but clearly we still have a long way to go for better representation in football.

“However, we honor the pioneers. We are proud of these individuals and their impact.”

There is also the Ugo Ehiogu “ones to watch” category, which recognizes talented young people under the age of 30 in the industry.
