Corvallis, Ore. The Oregon State wrestling team was unable to complete a comeback attempt against Pac-12 foe Arizona State, dropping a 23-16 decision Sunday night. As a result, the Beavers saw their three game winning streak snapped.

The Beavers (6-6, 2-1 Pac-12) won four of the next five in a 14-0 deficit after the first four games to force a winner-takes-all matchup at heavyweight. Isaiah Crosby got the Beavers on the board at 157-lb. match with a 10-6 decision. Crosby battled back from an 0-2 hole to make it 8-4 after the second period and closed it out with a 10-6 margin.

Matthew Olguin19th-ranked wrestler at 165, led his match early 6-0 and never expected an 18-3 technical fall victory. Olguin entered the third frame with a significant 13-point lead at 16-3 and had nearly three minutes of riding time to secure the victory.

After a heartbreaking loss to a sudden victory 174-lb. match, seventh Trey Munoz used a takedown in the late stages of the first game to open his big win. The dominant display from the Californian didn’t let up as he took a 5-1 lead early in the third to a 14-4 final.

Tanner Harvey (No. 15, 197) got the Beavs back within one point in the penultimate matchup of the dual. Like Munoz in the previous bout, Harvey scored a 14-4 major decision. A pair of takedowns highlighted the first and gave him a 4-1 lead after the first, and then again, like Munoz, escaped after that. The graduate student from Elkton, Ore., stretched his lead to 9-3 after the second period, then closed it out with an extra point 4:16 into his riding time.
ASU’s win by fall clinched the game for the visitors as they took it 23-16.

Oregon State will leave the conference for the final time in the 2022-23 season this Saturday, the 11th.th when they take on Wyoming. Gill Coliseum action begins at 7 p.m
