The Aggies add four T&F weekly honors to their total

EAST GREENSBORO – North Carolina A&T continued to dominate the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) intramural athletics weekly awards. The Aggies added four more on Tuesday, sweeping all four categories.

Paula Lohi and Julieth Nwosu took the women’s honors after stellar performances at the University of South Carolina (USC) South Carolina Invitational at the Carolina Indoor Track and Field Complex. Reheem Hayles and Brayden Hodgest won the men’s honors after solid performances at USC.

Lohi won co-athlete of the week and won his second weekly honor of the season. Lohi won the 60-meter hurdles and finished the competition with a season’s best time of 8.19. He improved on his CAA lead in the 60H and finished 18th nationally in the event.

He also ran a season-best 24.82 in the 200m to finish seventh. A former MEAC champion in the high jump, he also cleared 5 feet, 5 inches in the high jump at USC, finishing fifth. Salmon shares this week’s award with Hampton’s Amira Aduma.

Nwosu was chosen as athlete of the week. It’s his first honor of the season and career. He won first place in the shot put at the South Carolina Invitational, winning the event with a best throw of 54 feet, 6 ½ inches. Nwosu also recorded a personal best. He leads the CAA by more than 4 ½ feet. He is ranked 27th nationally.

Hayles has been on a hot streak since the Aggies’ indoor season began. On Tuesday, he picked up his second male athlete honor of the season. Hayles won the 400 meters to remain undefeated in the event this season. Hayles posted a season-best 46.14 to finish eighth nationally and first in the CAA. He also ran a personal-best 21.52 in the 200m, tying USC for third place.

Hayles is ranked third in the conference in the 200m, giving three sprinters in the top three with Hayles trailing Shemar Chambers (20.96) and Brandon news (21.41). In addition, Hayles helped the Aggies finish second in the 4×400 meter relay with a time of 3:07.44. It was the best collegiate time of the event as the Aggies finished behind the professional team. Ryan Saint-GermainNya and Chambers also participated in the 4×400.

Hodgest won his second male athlete of the week award this season. He also recorded the league’s best shot put of the weekend. He finished fourth with a throw of 56 feet, 5 ¼ inches, marking his third throw of 56 feet this season. He remains the only CAA competitor with a throw over 56 feet.

There are also this season’s winning awards Jada Griffinwho won Female Athlete of the Week on January 24th, and Aeneas Reed Jr who won Male Athlete of the Week on January 24th. The Aggies have won nine weekly honors this season.

They will be back in action on 10-11. February at the prestigious Tiger Paw Invitational hosted by Clemson at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex.
