Arizona goes two for two in the Aloha State

HONOLULU – Women’s Tennis went two for two in their matches against the University of Hawai’i this weekend. After their 5-2 win on Friday night, the Wildcats won their second game 6-1 on Saturday, February 11th.

Arizona won a singles point and five singles matches to secure the victory over Hawaii. Kayla Wilkins and Parker Fry finished first in two doubles, defeating Madison Kim and Anna Kern 6-4. Then Salma Ziouti and Reece Carter completed the singles point after defeating his opponent 6-4 at number one.

Three Wildcats won their matches in straight sets, two Wildcats won their matches by default and one Wildcat fell in a 10-point third-set shutout. Senior Lexi Ryngler won her match against Kern 6-1, 6-0 in four singles, followed by Fry at three singles who defeated Rita Pinto 6-4, 6-3, and Wilkins won the match for Arizona after defeating Kim 6-3 in both sets. .

Freshman Reece Carter, playing a single for the first time this spring, shared sets with Satsuki Takamura. The Canadian beat Takamura 6-3 in the first set and lost 4-6 in the second before eventually going down 5-10 in the decider. Tanvi Narendran and Belen Nevenhoven won their matches in five and six singles by default after their opponents were sidelined due to illness.

Next up for women’s tennis – now 8-1 – is another series of away matches in Lawrence, Kansas on Friday, February 18th and Saturday, February 19th. They then travel to Montgomery, Ala. For the Blue Gray Classic Series on February 25th. -26. They’re back home on Friday, March 3, when Arizona opens Pac-12 play against Oregon.
