TAMPA, Fla. The University of Tampa Spartans hockey team accomplished a feat that would make the Tampa Bay Lightning jealous. Spartan finished their regular season with an undefeated 23-0 record!
UT’s hockey team is a member of the Division II Collegiate Hockey Federation, which also includes schools such as the University of Florida, the University of Georgia, the University of Alabama, and the University of South Florida.
The Spartans posted an impressive +130 goal differential (176-46) and had 26 power-play goals to just 16 allowed.
UT’s ice hockey team is used to riding high after first place last season as well.
Because of its record, the UT Division II team will compete as a CHF member at the national tournament in Philadelphia in March. In the national tournament, the University of Tampa is ranked 4th, with 32 teams competing. The team will also play in the College Hockey South (CHS) playoffs in late February in Alabama.
The team raises money to help with the costs of playing in tournaments GoFundMe.
As the CHS playoffs approached, we continued our fundraising efforts to help the men on their journey. Thank you for the support you have shown our team so far https://t.co/1QLalhVP1B
