Middleton PD closes investigation into high school football program and no arrests have been made

MIDDLETON, Wis. (WMTV) – The Middleton Police Department’s investigation into allegations against the city’s high school football program has ended, it announced Monday, and no arrests have been made.

The Middleton Police Department said it has turned the case over to the Dane County Prosecutor’s Office for review. If more information becomes available, the authorities will continue to investigate the case.

Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District officials said last week that, separate from the police investigation, the district was prepared to hold anyone accountable for meeting school-specific and athletic code expectations. District spokeswoman Shannon Valladolid said Monday that the district’s investigation is still ongoing and will continue for the next few weeks.

MCPASD officials confirmed Jan. 27 that it is investigating allegations of harassment in the high school’s football program. The police department released its own statement later that day, saying it was investigating allegations of misconduct among students in the football program.

That same day, a district spokesperson announced that head football coach and business teacher Jason Pertzborn had resigned from the district, citing personal reasons. It is not clear if the resignation was related to the investigation.
