COLUMBUS, Ohio Ohio State’s Justin Boulais helped lead the No. 1-ranked Buckeyes to three wins against ranked opponents last week and has been named the Biggest Tennis Athlete of the Week.
Boulais had a singles win and a dominant singles win over three matches last week. He provided the tap-in point in a 4-3 win at No. 9 Wake Forest, winning in three sets (6-3, 1-6, 6-3) over Filippo Moroni on court two. He then did the same two days later at No. 5 Virginia, winning a three-set match (3-6, 6-1, 6-4) at No. 2 seed Chris Rodesch to beat Buckeye 4-1. . Then on Tuesday night, Boulais opened the matchup against No. 10 Baylor with a convincing 6-0 victory in the No. 2 doubles game that pushed the Buckeyes to a 4-0 win over the Bears. He also led his singles match with No. 117 Tadeas Paroulek 6-2, 3-4 on Court 1 when the match was suspended.
This is the second consecutive week that a Buckeye has earned Ten Athlete of the Week honors. James Trotter earned the award last week for his perfect 4-0 week against ranked opponents.
On the year, Boulais owns a 7-1 singles record, including a combined 6-0 record at No. 1 and No. 2. He is also 10-2 on the season in doubles.
Boulais and the Buckeyes head to Chicago this weekend as the top seed for the ITA Indoor Team National Championship.
