On the occasion of the 12th National Sports Day (NSD), Qatar’s diplomatic, consular and embassies abroad organized various sports activities under the slogan “The Choice is Yours”.
In Brussels, Qatar’s mission to the EU and NATO organized a sports event attended by Qatar’s ambassador to the EU and NATO, Abdulaziz bin Ahmed al-Malki, the diplomatic staff, the mission’s military representative and local workers. The event included various outdoor activities as well as competitions in one of the indoor gyms.
In his speech on this occasion, Qatar’s ambassador to the EU and NATO praised Qatar’s announcement of the annual NSD, emphasizing the importance of sports and its benefits to individuals and society.
In London, the Qatari Embassy in the United Kingdom partnered with Sisterhood FC, an organization that aims to enable Muslim women to participate in football activities.
As part of the partnership, Qatar provided a grant of 20,000 to support the growth of Sisterhood FC. The fund will be used to cover the costs of football clothing, stadium hire, the development of awareness programs and communications to raise awareness of the organization among Muslim girls across the UK and increase their participation in football.
Qatar’s ambassador to the UK, Fahd bin Mohamed al-Attiyah, attended a friendly match between the embassy staff and the organization’s team in the presence of diplomatic staff, local workers, members of the organization, media representatives and Qatari students living in London.
The Westway Sports Center hosted various sports activities such as rock climbing, tennis, table tennis, volleyball and yoga.
The Embassy also sponsors the annual Battersea Park Marathon, a 5km and 10km race, with over 500 runners taking part.
In Beijing, the Qatari Embassy in China, in conjunction with the country’s NSD, organized a sports event at the Olympic Green Chaoyang District, attended by Qatari Ambassador Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Dehaimi, diplomats and staff.
The event included a variety of sports activities such as football matches, table tennis, running and more.
In Canberra, the Qatari Embassy in Australia organized a sporting event attended by Qatari Ambassador Saad bin Abdullah al-Mahmoud, diplomats and local staff. The event included a variety of sports activities.
