The Auburn football program has always been proud of its players. Although the Tigers will lose star Tank Bigsby to the 2023 NFL Draft this year, the combination of returning players and new faces is poised to keep things rolling.
Jarquez Hunter is widely expected to lead the running back room this year with the help of incoming USF transfer Brian Battie. Damair Alston is preparing for his second year on the Plains, and 4-star signee Jeremiah Cobb is waiting in the wings.
In the meantime, which 2024 running backs could come in next year and make a difference for the Tigers? The staff, but primarily RB coach Cadillac Williams, seems to be prioritizing two prospects right now, J’Marion Burnette and Daniel Hill.
Burnette, a 4-star prospect from Andalusia, AL, has made several trips to the Plains and was most recently on campus for the Tigers’ Junior Day. He is ranked No. 164 in the 2024 recruiting class and No. 11 running back. He is the No. 11 prospect in the state of Alabama. He has received attention from Georgia and Alabama, among others, but is expected to choose Auburn football.
Daniel Hill is a 4-star prospect from Meridian, MS, not too far from Jarquez Hunter’s hometown. Ranked #161 in the 2024 recruiting class and #12 in ATH, he is Mississippi’s top recruit. He is being recruited by multiple schools for multiple positions, including ATH and linebacker, but the Tigers want Hill as a running back.
Currently, Hill appears to be Alabama’s lean and has visited Tuscaloosa a total of seven times. On3 recruitment database. However, Auburn football quarterback Walker White named Hill as one of the recruits he wants to play with on the Plains, and who doesn’t want to hear Cadillac Williams?
