Beck moves to #2 in the latest ITA rankings

DURHAM The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the first computerized rankings of the 2023 campaign with the Duke senior on Tuesday. Chloe Beck rising no. 2 nationally in singles. It is the highest singles record of his Blue Devil career.

Beck, a native of Watkinsville, Ga., is currently riding a 12-match hitting streak in singles play and is 17-3 on the year. She currently has eight wins over singles players listed in the latest ITA Rankings, including third-ranked Connie Ma of Stanford. Beck needs eight wins to reach the 100-win mark in his career.

Other Blue Devils in the ITA singles book include Emma Jackson (#26) and Cameron Morra (#47). Jackson has compiled a 13-6 overall singles record and owns three wins against ranked opponents. Morra owns a 13-7 record on the season and recently recorded her 100th career singles win at the ITA National Team Indoors against Washington.

In the doubles ranking, Beck/Morra is now in 18th place, as the duo has compiled a 19-3 season record. Karolina Berankova and Ellie Coleman have been ranked for the second time in a row, as the tandem is ranked 53rd with a 12-4 record.

Duke was ranked No. 10 in the latest rankings with a 10-1 overall record. North Carolina, Ohio State, Michigan, Iowa State, Auburn, Georgia, Texas A&M, Texas, NC State and Duke are among the top 10 teams.

The Blue Devils next travel to Blacksburg, Va., to face Virginia Tech on Friday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m., in both teams’ ACC opener, and then face No. 20 Virginia on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. in Charlottesville, Va.
