Mother Nature caused problems on Day 2 of Sask. Winter Games in Regina. freezing temperatures forced the cancellation of the day’s biathlon events at the QuAppelle Valley Nordic Center in Lumsden.
Medals were awarded in artistic swimming, badminton, bowling, curling, table tennis, speed skating, weightlifting and alpine skiing.
Saskatoon leads the medals with 16, Prairie Central has 14 with Regina and Lakeland with 8 after the first two days of competition.
Tuesday was also the first day of the free cultural festival. Game participants, volunteers and the public were treated to performances by the Quaappelle Valley Dance Group, the Gray Buffalo Singers and the Lone Creek Buffalo Nation Dance.

Wednesday’s sports include alpine skiing, artistic swimming, badminton, Special Olympics bowling, curling, gymnastics, speed skating, table tennis and weightlifting.
