INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the first time this season, the Cleveland State men’s tennis team has swept the Horizon League Weekly Awards, as Maxime Mareschal-Hay has been named Player of the Week and Kade Mindry and Raul Teichmann have been named Doubles Team of the Week. . This is the second consecutive weekly honor for Mareschal-Hay, while it is the third weekly recognition for Mindry and Teichmann.
Last time out, this trio helped the Vikings get back-to-back wins against Bryant (7-0) and Binghamton (6-1), extending their current winning streak to four straight games. The two wins also improved Cleveland State to 8-4 on the young season.
Mareschal-Hay paced the Vikings in singles, going 2-0 at the top of the lineup with a 7-6(12), 7-6(2) win over Bryant and a 6-1, 7-5 victory. against Binghamton. After two wins, Mareschal-Hay now has a team-best 14-7 singles record this year, including a 9-2 mark this spring.
In doubles, Mindry and Teichmann picked up back-to-back wins at the No. 1 spot, helping the Vikings claim doubles points in both matches. The duo earned a 6-3 win against Bryant and a 6-1 win over Binghamton, improving to a team-best 12-5 this season. Mindry and Teichmann also own a team-best 8-2 mark at No. 1 doubles this spring.
Mareschal-Hay, Mindry, Teichmann and the Vikings continue their spring campaign this weekend, traveling to Chicago, Ill., to face DePaul, Eastern Kentucky and Army.
