Texas A&M football coach Jimbo Fisher is regrouping his offensive coaching staff

Texas A&M football coach Jimbo Fisher has changed its offensive coaching staff again, GigEm247 has learned.

Fisher has moved Dameyune Craig from quarterbacks coach to wide receivers coach and James Coley from receiver coaches to tight end coaches. The Aggies are hiring Bobby Petrino because their offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach last month got those moves.

Craig served as A&M’s receivers coach for four seasons (2018-21) before moving to quarterbacks coach last fall. Coley spent two seasons (2020-21) coaching tight ends for the Aggies before moving to receivers coach last fall.

A&M has yet to announce that Petrino, Craig and Coley will now coach the quarterbacks, receivers and tight ends. But all three coaches are already recruiting high school players for these special assignments.

Petrino has communicated with several quarterbacks. He was instrumental in securing a verbal commitment from AJ Maddox, the 2024 quarterback from Hattiesburg, Miss., earlier this month.

Craig extended his scholarship offer Wednesday to the 2024 recipient Gekyle Baker, a four-star recruit from Brownsboro (Texas) High. Little Elm (Texas) Tall defensive lineman Zane Rowe2027 recruit, received an offer as a tight end from Coley on Monday.

The Athletic’s national football reporter Bruce Feldman reported last week that Fisher was trying to hire Louisville’s receivers coach. Garrick McGee to serve in the same position as his staff. But McGee ultimately decided to stay with the Cardinals.

It’s worth noting that Craig’s contract with the Aggies expired on Jan. 31, according to documents shared with GigEm247 via an open records request.
